Homelessness: #HomesForHeroes

Supporting homeless veterans with funds for move-in costs and security deposit assistance.

Homes for Heroes launched on Veterans Day 2015 to help engage with landlords across  Los Angeles interested in housing an unhoused veteran. The MFLA Homes For Heroes program provided specific support for move-in costs not covered by other funding options and security deposit assistance in partnership with our community partner, People Assisting the Homeless (PATH). More than 200 Angelenos stepped up to donate to the effort.

In addition to #HomesForHeroes, the Mayor’s Welcome Home Project at that time provided much-needed supplies to formerly homeless people as they move into permanent supportive housing. We’ve partnered with L.A. businesses and dedicated volunteers to make the Welcome Home Project a success.
