Meet Our Staff

Diego Alvarez serves as the We Are LA Coordinator for Legal Services at the Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles. Embedded at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in downtown Los Angeles, he works closely with attorneys from We Are LA’s legal partner, the Eviction Defense Network, to support tenants navigating the legal system.

From assisting with landlord negotiations in one of the city’s busiest courthouses to helping prepare tenants for their defense, Diego is a steady presence at every critical stage. His work ensures that some of Los Angeles’ most vulnerable residents have the guidance and advocacy they need when it matters most.

Before taking on his current role, Diego worked as a caseworker at the We Are LA office — where the Mayor’s Fund’s We Are LA program team addresses the root causes of housing instability for those who walk through their doors. His casework experience shaped him into a stronger, more empathetic advocate as he supports tenants across LA during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
