Gloria is Director of Communications at the Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles.
An Emmy Award-winning and Edward R. Murrow recipient, Gloria has over two decades of experience crafting compelling, story-driven content. As a storyteller and journalist, Gloria helped drive meaningful conversations around some of the most important issues facing our communities today — from social and environmental challenges to economic issues. Most recently at CNN, Gloria was key in helping produce nationally televised town hall events and serving as a liaison between CNN and presidential campaigns during the 2016, 2020, and 2024 election cycles. She was instrumental in helping produce everything from documentaries to live presidential debates.
Gloria’s experience extends beyond the newsroom, including teaching broadcast journalism at UCLA Extension and producing web content for civic organizations such as California Forward. A graduate of Cal State Northridge in Print Journalism, Gloria launched her career after being selected for the highly competitive NBC News Associates Program in 1999. As a fellow, she worked with notable news anchors in New York and Los Angeles, from Tom Brokaw to Katie Couric and Brian Williams.
Deeply committed to her city—having been born and raised in Pico-Union—Gloria is dedicated to the Fund’s mission of uplifting communities through raising awareness of its programs and sharing their stories.
