If you’ve received an eviction notice in Los Angeles, you don’t have to face it alone.  The Mayor’s Fund We Are LA program offers free legal help to tenants right at the courthouse. Starting March 16, 2026, the LA Superior Court now requires Mandatory Settlement Conferences, where a trained judge helps both tenants and landlords work out a solution before going to trial, giving you a real chance to stay in your home. As our CEO Conway Collis shared on Inside the Issues with Amrit Singh, this partnership creates space for both sides to find real solutions.  When tenants have legal representation, it levels the playing field and opens the door to outcomes that can avoid eviction altogether.
